[Submission] Fetters and Ferns
“If I must die, I will encounter darkness as a bride, and hug it in mine arms.”
Exegis. “If I must die, I will encounter darkness as a bride, and hug it in mine arms.” (Shakespeare, Measure for Measure)
Fetters and Ferns explores the pining of human love and the all-consuming desire to be embraced by the immortal and the mythical. Waiting in the long grass, amongst the ferns and the oak trees, the figure is haunted by a watchful presence she senses in the shadows, just beyond her reach.
