Recession Indicator.
How do I min-max the ache away and out of my brain?
My whole life I’ve lived with comparative advantage,
but negative elasticity in my heart; in my art.
Being raised by two economists
(Who dislike the term “economists”)
can have strong-side effects. You may
feel dizzy under the demand.
Supply yourself and supplicate the screams of
equity. You can and you will break,
even when you read all the signs right— the
wage you pay in guilt builds no retirement,
so you might as well 401k yourself.
A free market of pleasure means you’re free to
feel like a
graph of diminishing returns
once you go and
shrug of the chains the charts made for you.
Interest rates are lowering; that means
people are less interested in knowing about your
troubles. (Market saturation)
Supply of time creates demand for self-inflicted
pain. But the opportunity costs are climbing
with every line you cross out of your poems.
Commodities are comforting but they can never
be you. Never free you.
Temporary recession is often necessary
to feel true to yourself.
Divide your labour. The invisible hand that
lives inside is cruel but can be quieted.
(The rational human isn’t real)
National debt creates a deficit, but what else
is there to do? The bonds you break and the bonds
that pay are all budgeted
to renew.
No matter what you do, know that
the wealth effect is a balance sheet
balancing act. Build enough credit to last
through the wholesale debits, so when welfare
needs hedging you’re too big to fail.

Consumed by this concept, she writes on Substack and curates the White Lily Society page dedicated to arts and culture.
